27th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Jesus teaches against divorce and welcomes the children.
Today we continue to read from the Gospel according to Mark. For the past three Sundays, we have been hearing Mark’s reports of conversations between Jesus and his disciples. Recall that in Mark’s Gospel, Jesus uses these private moments to teach his disciples in greater detail about the Kingdom of God. Beginning with today’s Gospel, Jesus returns to Judea, Jewish territory, and resumes his public ministry. The first verse of chapter 10 of Mark’s Gospel tells us that crowds gathered around Jesus, and he taught them, as was his custom. Immediately, the Pharisees approach Jesus to test him.

Our New Bishop
On Thursday, September 30, the Most Reverend John C. Iffert was ordained and installed as the eleventh bishop of the Diocese of Covington. You can learn more about him and watch the installation on the Diocese of Covington's website, covdio.org.
Volunteers are needed after the 8:00 AM Mass on Saturday, October 9, to help with church cleaning. This is a perfect opportunity for families and/or students needing service hours for Confirmation or high school. Meet in church after Mass; directions will be provided by Fr. Bach.
The blessing of pets will take place on the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi, Monday, October 4, at 1:00 PM and at 7:00 PM. Parishioners and school families are welcome to bring their pet/s to either blessing.
Middle School Youth Group
Our middle school youth group will have a scavenger hunt on the evening of Friday, October 8. The hunt, planned by junior high religion teacher Emily Scheper, will include items and locations throughout the St. Henry Church property. All parishioners in grades 6-8 are welcome and encouraged to join us for this fun event! The middle school youth group meets on the 2nd and 4th Friday nights of the month from 7-9:00 PM. We are in need of adult and/or high school volunteers to help supervise the scavenger hunt. All volunteers age 18 and older must be VIRTUS trained and current on monthly bulletins. Please contact Laura Ryan at email@example.com to volunteer or with any questions.
Dine to Donate
There are two opportunities to support our St. Henry Crusaders this week: Tuesday at Skyline all day and Wednesday at MacKenzie River all day. Be sure to mention St. Henry when paying your bill and thank you for your support!
