The 15th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Cycle B

Mark 6:7-13: Jesus instructs his disciples and sends them to preach repentance.

This week’s Gospel and the one for next week describe how Jesus sent the disciples to minister in his name and the disciples’ return to Jesus afterward. These two passages, however, are not presented together in Mark’s Gospel. Inserted between the two is the report of Herod’s fears that Jesus is John the Baptist back from the dead. In Mark’s Gospel, Jesus’ ministry is presented in connection with the teaching of John the Baptist. Jesus’ public ministry begins after John is arrested. John the Baptist prepared the way for Jesus, who preached the fulfillment of the Kingdom of God.

Have you heard? Staying in touch with our parish just got easier!

We are excited to announce we have adopted a new way to keep you connected to the life of the parish. This week, you may receive a welcome message from the new system of our parish, Evangelus. This is not spam. We encourage you to open the message and follow the link to create a profile and select your preferred form of contact. There will also be groups for you to join. Take a moment and see if there are any groups that may interest you. Feel free to join as many groups as you wish.

If you are not a registered parishioner at St. Henry, you will not receive a message because we don’t have your information on file. You can register online or stop by the parish office Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-3:00 PM, or call the parish office, 859-727-2035. Year of St. Joseph:
A Virtual Retreat for Fathers

The Catholic Apostolate Center is pleased to host a completely virtual retreat for fathers. This retreat will help fathers reflect on the vocation of fatherhood. Fr. Frank Donio, S.A.C., Director of the Catholic Apostolate Center, and Tom Carani, Center Consultant, will lead participants in reflections on fatherhood, self-gift, and the example of St. Joseph.

This retreat will be a completely on-demand experience with content and materials sent directly to your inbox. Participants will receive all the necessary retreat content, videos, and reading materials necessary to make the retreat. Participate in the retreat when convenient for you or break the retreat up in smaller portions to go at your own pace. Consider joining the Center for this retreat or registering a father in your life for a time of reflection.

Registration will remain open until September 1. The cost to register for the retreat is $15. Once registered, participants will receive materials in their inbox starting on July 20. Please feel free to reach out to Colleen Campbell, Center Manager of Formation Programs, with any questions about the retreat at colleen.campbell@catholicapostolatecenter.org.
