St. Henry Catholic School: A Foundation for Life
Monday, April 23, 2018
In scripture we read, “Therefore, thus says the Lord God: See, I am laying a stone in Zion, a stone that has been tested, a precious cornerstone as a sure foundation; whoever puts faith in it will not waver.”
Elementary school learning is like that stone: the concepts your child learns early on will serve as a foundation for everything that comes after. At St. Henry Catholic School, children receive a faith-based, academic foundation that will help them reach their full potential. Children are empowered with an education to meet the challenges of living in an ever-changing and diverse world. Why should you choose St. Henry?
The faculty and staff are faith-filled, dedicated, knowledgeable, and strive to meet the individual needs of each child. Teachers identify learning gaps and use interventions with students to help them succeed. Last year, we launched Alpha Cru (Advanced Learning Program for High Achievers) to identify and serve gifted students.
With the support of our parents and the parish community, children find a nurturing environment where they receive on-going formation in their faith and develop their God-given gifts. Our faith teaches us that we must not only learn, we must use what we learn to go out and help others. As such, service is incorporated into our curriculum.
Children gather in the new Makerspace to create, invent, explore, and discover using a variety of tools, materials, technology, and techniques for hands-on learning. Students use iMac computers, iPads, robotics, virtual reality headsets, and 3-D printers to engage in creative problem solving and to learn the necessary skills for the 21st century.
Opportunities to explore, create, perform, and play through enrichment classes in Spanish, music, theater, library, art, and physical education are part of an engaging weekly schedule.
